Posts. 2,151. There is no scheduled maintenance or replacement for any of the chains in the engine. There is one timing chain at the front of the engine that should be good for the life of the bike. Each cylinder also has a chain to drive its cam that seldom wears out, but occasionally one of the chain tensioners will weaken and need replacement.
The Honda FSM states the following on pg. 3-12 under Maintenanc Minder Maintenance Sub Items 4: Replace timing belt (see pg. 6-22) and inspect water pump (see pg. 10-5) If vehicle is regularly driven in very high temperatures over 110 F or very low temperatures under -20 F. Replace every 60,000 miles.
