Produced. 1943–1945. Number built. 739. Developed from. Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer is an American World War II and Korean War era patrol bomber of the United States Navy derived from the Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The Navy had been using B-24s with only minor modifications as the PB4Y-1 Liberator, and The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engine heavy bomber used by the Royal Air Force and other Commonwealth air forces during World War II. Of the 7,377 aircraft built, 3,736 were lost during the War (3,249 in action and 487 in ground accidents). Today 17 remain in complete form: two are airworthy, and two others are in taxiable condition with After the war Liberators were replaced in 1948 by Avro Lincolns. About 287 Liberators (B-24D, B-24J, B-24L and the B-24M models) eventually served in RAAF bomber squadrons. It was the only heavy bomber used in the Pacific by the RAAF and they operated from Australia, Morotai (East Indies) and Palawan (Philippines). Flying from bases in England during World War II, B-24 Liberator bombers were key weapons in freeing Europe from Nazi domination. more than 18,000 B-24s had been built, making it the most mass
The aircraft went on to become the most-produced bomber in military history. Impressively, over 18,400 examples were built between 1940 and 1945 across several variants.

The Boeing B-17 was built in response to a 1934 request by the US Army Air Corps (USAAC) for strategic bombers. The Corps wanted a plane capable of flying at 10,000 feet, at speeds of up 200 mph

The implementation of pre-flight checklists allowed YB-17s to fly 1.8 million hours without incident. This proved to the Army Air Corps they were safe and eventually 12,731 were built. The B-17 would go on to drop more bombs than any other aircraft in the U.S. arsenal during World War II. Jb1Q87.
